Yes, we are aware that it's nearly September and just about time to record August's Monthly Music Recap.
What can we say, planning a music festival takes time and Grand Rapids Riverfest is right around the corner (who else can't wait for the new Margo album, dropping Aug. 29??). But hey, better late than never.
Here is the roundup of KAXE Music Team's favorite albums and songs from the month of July.
Malachy's favorite songs were "New Threats From The Soul" from alt-country goofballs Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band, and "Say Goodbye," a collaboration between El Michels Affair and Ghanaian vocalist Florence Adooni.
DJ Dang's favorites were "Witness" from roots music veterans The Wood Brothers, and the spacey "My Home Is Not In This World" from Natalie Bergman.
Kari got down with "liquidize" from indie phenomenon Wet Leg, and Jon Batiste's tongue-in-cheek "Big Money."
For full albums, Malachy picked My Home Is Not In This World from Natalie Bergman, DJ Dang picked Winged Victory from folk troubadour Willi Carlisle, and Kari picked the prime "Saturday morning record," Billie Marten's Dog Eared.
