Album of the Week: Lifted by Trombone Shorty

Born and bred in New Orleans, Trombone Shorty is known for his high energy shows. His new album, and first in five years, Lifted, taps in to that very high level space. Shorty was quoted saying this album is the closest they have ever gotten to bottling up the energy of a live show and putting it on a record. A task that we as music lovers know can be near impossible.

The album features fellow Louisianan and vocalist Lauren Daigle ('What It Takes'), while Gary Clark Jr. appears on 'I'm Standing Here' with a searing guitar solo.

Shorty is such an integral part of the music scene in New Orleans and has been for a long time. He unbelievably got his start on the stage of Jazz Fest at 4 years old, performing with Bo Diddley, leading his own brass band by the age of 6 years old.
