Album of the week: (watch my moves) by Kurt Vile

Kurt Vile has a way of relaxing the listener; the music is on and suddenly everything slows down, time can be taken and words can be enjoyed. His new album, (watch my moves), stylized as such, starts off with a song that instantly puts you at ease. 'Goin on a Plane Today' sounds more like a demo, but in a way that makes you feel his vulnerability and authenticity. It's a song also filled with quirky lyrics and a fabulous brass mid-section.

Vile started out as a solo artist then formed The War on Drugs with friend and fellow musician Adam Granduciel, before realizing being a solo artist was where he preferred to be.

This is Kurt Vile’s first album on Verve Records, a legendary jazz label that also has signed unique creative artists like the Velvet Underground.
