Like many bands and musicians, Cloud Cult had finished writing a new album right as the pandemic and shutdown took hold. Instead of recording and releasing it, Craig Minowa, the heart and songwriter behind Cloud Cult, took this opportunity to rewrite, tweak and completely scrap some of the songs. He felt it very important to make this album relevant to our times and experiences.
What came out of those rewrites is their brand new album out now, Metamorphosis, their first full length album in six years. Written and recorded in the woods of Northern Wisconsin, the album touches on Minowa's father's death, addiction, suicide and parenting during the pandemic.
Cloud Cult has a few Minnesota shows coming up: March 31st, April 1st and 2nd they're playing with the Minnesota Orchestra at Orchestra Hall, and on Thursday, April 20th at the NorShor Theater in Duluth.
