Feb 4 - Feb 10 Aboogi by Imarhan

A constant in the music of Imarhan is that the band pays tribute to the Tuareg people; the traditions, sounds and cultures, but done through a contemporary lens. Out with their third album, Aboogi, the band continues on that path, while also acknowledging the struggles of oppressive laws, government corruption, colonization and justice. The sounds and themes of Aboogi also reflect life in Tamanrasset, the band's hometown in southern Algeria.

Imarhan has been influenced over the years by pioneers of the desert blues, Tinariwen. They have created such a tie that some of the members of Tinariwen are featured on Aboogi, along with Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals.
