Live from the Historic Chief Theater

The Lowest Pair @ the Historic Chief Theater
Kevin Johnson

We are proud to announce a new concert series in Bemidji, Live from the Historic Chief Theater! Similar in concept to the CenterStage MN Concert series in Grand Rapids, we're partnering with the Chief Theater to present a series of shows throughout this fall and spring of 2022.

We kicked off the series last night with banjo duo and longtime KAXE/KBXE favorite, The Lowest Pair. Fantastic music in a fantastic space, what more could you ask for? Oh, did I mention this series is FREE? Funded by a grant from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, the series is meant to be open and available to all.

The next concert will be on Saturday, October 16th with native musician and Coloradoan, Cary Morin and Ghost Dog, with opener Josh Hardy. A fingerstyle guitarist, Morin's music is often called Native Americana, channeling blues, bluegrass, jazz, jam, reggae and dance.

Due to the rise in the Delta variant and to protect the musicians, all attendees and folks working the show, you will need to show proof of vaccination OR a negative COVID test (within 48 hours), and we will be strongly recommending masking.

The music director at KAXE since 2014, Kari (pronounced Car-ee) Hedlund reviews music on the daily. She also hosts New Music every Wednesday (2 and 10 p.m.) and Sunday (noon), along with the KAXE Morning Show on Thursdays.
