Dr. Dog On World Cafe

The Philadelphia indie-pop band Dr. Dog filters classic rock and pop through a lo-fi slacker aesthetic that recalls Pavement or Guided by Voices and sounds both timeless and immediate.

Dr. Dog's seventh album, Shame, Shame, was released in April. Their most autobiographical work yet, the disc unfolds with the tender and joyous harmonies of "Stranger," in which its members sing, "I do believe that there's no more tricks up my sleeve." Judging by the strong tracks that follow, they're just being modest. They perform music from the album here on World Cafe.

This segment originally ran on May 26, 2010.
