David Mead: Tender And Timeless

After relocating to Nashville from his native New York, singer-songwriter David Mead spent years developing his musical voice while playing with pop bands such as Verdant Green, Blue Million and a group called Joe, Marc's Brother. Eventually, Mead launched a fruitful solo career.

Following the release of his 1999 debut album, Luxury of Time, Mead spent the next few years releasing a series of albums that exhibited a growing gift for classic pop songwriting. Mead's uniquely tender high-register voice lends intimacy and warmth to his fifth full-length album, Almost and Always, a quiet and soulful exploration of post-marital life. Performed with the backing of woodwinds and a string quartet, the singer-songwriter experiments with richly ornamented melodies. Hear him in a session on World Cafe.
