Stephen Kellogg On Mountain Stage

With five years of do-it-yourself touring and a nose-to-the-grindstone work ethic, the Massachusetts band Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers have built their impassioned following from the ground up. Using online social networking alongside an never-ending string of one-nighters across North America, Kellogg and company have found themselves opening for the likes of Josh Ritter, Kathleen Edwards, Guster and many others.

Their homegrown sound mirrors the folk-rock style of The Band, presented with great humility by a lead man with a Springsteen-sized personality. Kellogg introduces himself as "Josh Turner," who had kicked off this Mountain Stage show earlier in the evening.

A new CD, Glassjaw Boxer, finds Kellogg's band under the production of Whiskeytown's Mike Daly and features guest spots from Caitlin Cary and O.A.R.'s Marc Roberge. The album was released by O.A.R.'s Everfine Records.
