Conversations At Curlow Creek

The unforgiving plains of Australia in the 1820s are the backdrop for this novel, which spans a night of conversation between two Irish-born immigrants: a condemned highwayman and the officer who will oversee his hanging. Alan Cheuse has this review. (STATIONS: The Conversations at Curlow Creek by David Malouf is published by Pantheon.)
