September is Healthy Aging Month.

The University of Minnesota Extension is offering a series of healthy aging webinars in September, plus they offer other online resources all year long on the topic.

As the population of older adults in the United States steadily increases, the importance of supporting lifelong health continues to grow.

The month of September was designated Healthy Aging Month in 1992. University of Minnesota Extension is offering a series of webinars and other online resources to help people of all ages learn about a variety of topics.

Sara Croymans, an Extension educator focusing on family resiliency, was a recent guest on the KAXE Morning Show. She works statewide from the Morris regional office, helping people of all ages learn about financial capability, housing education and mental health.

But this month, her focus is on healthy aging.

"Healthy aging means being able to enjoy life to its fullest," Croymans said. "And we know we're all getting older."

Healthy aging issues include a wide range of topics, from a balanced diet to nurturing relationships to managing your estate.

"(University of Minnesota) Extension is really here to help folks think about aging and what issues they might want to consider and connecting folks with resources," Croymans said.

If you are not able to attend a specific webinar, but you are interested in the topic, Croymans encourages you to register anyway. You will get a follow up email with resources related to that topic.
