Phenology is the rhythmic biological nature of events as they relate to climate. Phenology Talkbacks are an opportunity for us to hear what you are noticing outside.   John takes a deep dive into spring today reporting on deer ticks, his neighborhood eagle watch, the first grouse drumming, and much more!

KAXE-KBXE Northern Community Radio is listener funded.  If you appreciate that programming like this exists in the world, consider making a contribution to the station to ensure we can continue this service for years to come!

Check out our Season Watch page on Facebookfor more pics, videos and conversation about what's happening outside!

As a mail carrier in rural Grand Rapids, Minn., for 35 years, John Latimer put his own stamp on a career that delivered more than letters. Indeed, while driving the hundred-mile round-trip daily route, he passed the time by observing and recording seasonal changes in nature, learning everything he could about the area’s weather, plants and animals, and becoming the go-to guy who could answer customers’ questions about what they were seeing in the environment.
