  A recent study by Creative MN indicates that in 2019 arts and culture related activities brought more than $8M to the city of Bemidji.  Bemidji City Councilwoman Emelie Rivera joined the morning show discuss the ecnomic impact the arts have on her community as well as the social and cultural impact the arts have as well.

Katie Carter started at Northern Community Radio in 2008 as Managing Editor of the station's grant-funded, online news experiment Northern Community Internet. She returned for a second stint in 2016-23. She produced Area Voices showcasing the arts, culture, and history stories of northern Minnesota.
