Leah Monroe, Indian Education Direct at Northland Community Schools

Let's Visit is Northern Community Radio's way of sharing communities and places in our broadcast region with listeners.  This past month, Let's Visit focused on Remer, MN.    The Remer School District serves children from Outing, Boy River, Longville, and Federal Dam. Nearly half the students at Northland Community Schools are Ojibwe.  Ojibwe culture has become part of the daily and extra-curricular offerings in the district.  In this Let's Visit, Indian Education Director Leah Monroe discusses the positive impact those opportunities are having on students and the community at large.

Katie Carter started at Northern Community Radio in 2008 as Managing Editor of the station's grant-funded, online news experiment Northern Community Internet. Since 2016, she's produced Area Voices showcasing the arts, culture, and history stories of northern Minnesota. She's our local host of NPR's All Things Considered and CBC's As It Happens every weekday from 4-7pm.
