Early Bird Fishing: More People Are Ice Fishing This Year

Jeff Sundin joins Heidi Holtan and John Bauer via Zoom for Early Bird Fishing on the Thursday Morning show.  They talk about the increase in the number of people fishing out on the lakes now, due to the pandemic and because of easier access using vehicles to drive on the ice.  Many area lakes now have 14 to 15 inches of ice with the exception of some of the bigger deeper lakes.  Jeff reports that all resorts that plow roads on Winnie are now open with Mille Lacs Lake only supporting vehicles on the shorelines.  Jeff shares with us his conversation with Senator Carrie Ruud who is introducing legislation for a statewide reduction in walleye bag limit from six fish to four.

Jeff, John & Heidi talk about some positive things that have come out of the pandemic, including how these times have brought people together as families doing things they haven’t done in a long time – like fishing.  For more fishing information go to jeffsundin.com.
