KAXE is one of Minnesota’s most innovative public media organizations, serving Northern Minnesota through local news, music, podcasts, live events and community storytelling. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Development Director to help build the relationships and fundraising strategies that will sustain our work for years to come.
This leadership position is for someone who enjoys connecting with people, building partnerships and creating opportunities for others to invest in.
What you’ll do
- Lead KAXE’s fundraising strategy and annual development plan.
- Build meaningful relationships with individual donors, major supporters and business partners.
- Grow sponsorship and underwriting opportunities across radio, digital, podcasts and events.
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team on donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Work with staff across the organization to tell compelling stories and inspire support.
- Lead and support a collaborative development team.
We’re looking for someone who has
- Experience fundraising, sales, business development or relationship management.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills.
- Experience managing projects and meeting goals
- Comfort using CRM or donor management software.
- A collaborative approach and a passion for community.
- Familiarity with public media or nonprofit organizations is a plus, but not required.
The Development Director will work directly and under the leadership of the CEO/General Manager.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $57,000 – 65,000- depending on experience
