Pacha Massive: Latin Music Gets Big

Pacha Massive.
Pacha Massive.

The Bronx-based duo of Dominican-born writer/producer Nova and Columbian-born bassist Maya, Pacha Massive blends the rhythms of bemebe, reggae, palo and meringue. The resulting mixture — fleshed out by a revolving cast of supporting players — straddles the lines separating Latin music, drum-and-bass, dancehall and trip-hop.

The pair's first gig took place at Madison Square Garden opening for Aterciopelados, and buzz has built rapidly ever since: After landing a hit single ("Don't Let Go") on the soundtrack of the 2005 Peruvian film La Mujer de Mi Hermano, Pacha Massive continues to build momentum with its fine full-length debut, All Good Things.
