Early Bird Fishing: Minnesota’s Quality Bluegill Initiative, Perch Season and Fish House Removal

Early Bird Fishing Guide Jeff Sundin joins Heidi Holtan and John Bauer on the Thursday Morning Show. This week they talk about Minnesota’s Quality Bluegill Initiative, a program to increase the size of bluegills across the state.  This regulation puts a 5 fish bag limit on lakes that have a biological potential to grow large bluegills, effecting about one hundred Minnesota lakes. Jeff reminds us that walleye and pike seasons have closed except on lakes that share borders with Canada, North Dakota and Wisconsin.  This is the time of year for perch fishing and fishing for them has been good on Winnie, Leech, Cass and Bemidji.  They end their conversation with talk about fish house removal and Jeff tells us that most people do a good job of cleaning up the ice at the end of the season.
