From Austin, Texas, folk duo Dawn & Hawkes came through the KAXE studio last week while in Northern Minnesota.

Listen below to hear a couple songs from their beautiful new album, The Other Side, how they write together as a married couple, trying to make the world a better place through music, and perhaps most shockingly, they still listen to an ipod!

The CenterStage Concert Series is back! This collaboration between Northern Community Radio and The Reif Center is going strong into its third season. The third Thursday of every month, this series takes place in the Mary Ives Studio Theater at The Reif Center; a 200-seat intimate venue with a listening-room vibe where the audience is tuned IN to the musicianship on stage.

Nooky Jones brought some soul to Bemidji along with Fargo hip hop band, D Mills and the Thrills. KAXE/KBXE on-air volunteer, Shane Kingsland went to the show at Rail River Folk School, and had this review for us (DISCLAIMER: this may make you really upset that you missed the show. In that case, don't miss out next time!):

Centerstage Minnesota features music in all genres from artists from all corners of the state. The most recent show features an interview with Joe Carey, long-time musician, whose smart songwriting and nimble guitar work create a strong mix.

For the next in our CenterStage Concert series, we welcome hometown gypsy jazz hero, Sam Miltich, who will be joined by Charmin Michelle (vocals), Matthew Miltich (bass), Evan Price (violin) & Jay Epstein (drums). It continues the series on the third Thursday of the month, February 16th at 7:30pm in the 200-seat Mary Ives Studio at The Reif Center.
