With open studio tours in Wadena, Staples, New York Mills, Randall, Brainerd and Baxter, fiber art creators and appreciators will get a first hand look inside the craft of many forms of fiber art this weekend.  Jenny Wilder founded Midwest Fiber Arts Trails. She spoke with us on the morning show about fiber art, why fiber artists tend to travel great distances for materials, community and inspiration and she also told us about the various stops on this unique studio tour.  

Bonnie Lundorff

Bonnie Lundorff owns and operates the Willow Wood Market just south of Bemidji.   Willow Wood is a cozy quilt shop and wool studio that offers a variety of classes, supplies and materials for all things fiber art.  In September, Bonnie hosts the annual Harvest Festival on the Willow Wood property.  The Harvest Festival offers quilts,  soups, desserts, soups arts, antiques and a whole lot more.   Bonnie stopped by to tell us more what kinds of things people can expect this year.  All proceeds from sal

Jenny Wilder loves her fiber.  A couple cross country road trips inspired her to turn her energy toward connecting and showcasing fiber artists.   She’s been creating the Fiber Arts Almanac since 2010 and she’s been instrumental in organizing what are called fiber art trails in North Dakota, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, Iowa and Minnesota for.  This coming weekend north and west central Minnesota will be home to what is called the Pine to Prairie Fiber Arts Trail and of course Jenny Wilder will be right here

The Creative Spirit Fiber Festival kicks off tomorrow night and continues all day Saturday at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji.  Fiber artists Lori Forshee-Donnay and Bonnie Lundorff stopped by the studio to tell us all about it.

  The 4th annual Creative Spirit Fiber Festival kicks off tonight with classes offered in quilting, basketry and knitting.  Tomorrow, educational opportunities include Anatomy of Selbu Mitten taught by Pam Madson, Beginner Crochet taught by Peggy Olson, Beginning Ojibwe Beading taught by Gwen Reid, Beginner Rug Hooking taught by Carol Edwards, Binding Techniques, Brazilian Embroidery, Felted Soap Making, Quilling, Felted Bowls, and much more.
