Enbridge Line 3


We continue our coverage of the Line 3 Replacement Project.  Whether it's Enbridge, Water Protectors or Law Enforcement, each has their own narrative about what is happening near Palisade, MN and at other sites along the construction of Line 3 in northern Minnesota.  Listen to our conversation, or read the transcript (edited for clarity) below:

We continue to cover the complex story of the Line 3 Pipeline from Enbridge Energy in northern MN.  We talk with water protectors, Enbridge employees and workers, scientists and journalists reporting from the scene.

Heidi Holtan talks with Barry Simonson from Enbridge, Director of Line 3 Mainline Construction, Rachel Johnson from Precision Pipeline and Patrick Hughley Enbridge Tribal Engagement about the Line 3 project.  Line 3 construction began at the beginning of December - they are now employing over 5000 workers for the project.  Protests have been going on as well - at the sites near Palisade and Backus.

The new proposed line 3 Pipeline from Enbridge Energy travels throughout the KAXE/KBXE listening area.  The pipeline was built in the 1960s and travels from Edmonton, Alberta to Superior Wisconsin. 


On February 4th, four people affiliated with the Catholic Workers Movement broke into a site near Blackberry in Itasca County where Enbridge Energy Company operates valves that control the flow of crude oil through pipelines that follow the highway 2 corridor across northern MN.
