Cross Country Skiing

Cross Country skiers from across the planet will converge on Bemidji this weekend to compete in the 38th MN Finlandia Ski Marathon.  Mike Huerbin has been race director for the event for 20 years.  In this Area Voices segment, he breaks down the various races skiers can compete in, the various events happening around the races and he shares history of the race which, at one time, was a two day, 100k event!

Cross country skiing is a stellar way to get warm,  stay in shape and enjoy the outdoors during northern Minnesota winters.  Bill Scheela stopped by the morning show to tell us all about the Bemidji Area Cross Country Ski Club, trails around the Bemidji area, and a cross country ski school happening January 6th, 13th and 20th at the Bemidji Middle School.  To find trail maps, groom reports and upcoming cross country ski events in the Bemdji area, check out the Bemidji Area Cross Country Ski Club website or
