Bombino's Taureg rock evokes the vast, sand-swept regions of Western Africa, where he is from.
The guitarist, who in 2018 became the first Grammy-nominated artist born in Niger, released a new album Sahel on Sept. 15, 2023.
Named for the African biogeographic transition zone between the Sahara Desert to the north and savannahs to the south, Sahel calls of unity and peace across the region.
