GRAND RAPIDS — As we get ready for the 4th annual Grand Rapids Riverfest, we spoke with a Spoon superfan on the Morning Show. Greta Ravenhorst is a 16-year-old from Racine, Minnesota, who got to see her fourth performance from the band this week, this time at Red Rocks in Colorado. Greta got us prepped for the Grand Rapids Riverfest headliner, the band's only Minnesota date on their fall tour.
"I really like the chemistry that everybody has on stage. Like there was one song where they were playing a solo, like back and forth" she said. "I thought that was really cool, and they have lights that look really good."
Greta described Spoon's sound as authentic, and kind of nostalgic. Her dad Ryan got her into the band, and Greta's childhood was filled with their sound.
KAXE Music Director and Grand Rapids Riverfest Coordinator Kari Hedlund has seen them live as well. "What I've been so impressed by them every single time is how tight they sound."
Greta and her dad will head to Grand Rapids on Sept. 7 to see Spoon again. "My favorite song is, I think, 'I Summon You,' off the Gimme Fiction release."
Tickets are still available for Grand Rapids Riverfest which also features Shakey Graves, Sarah Jarosz, S.G. Goodman and Corey Medina and Brothers. Prices will increase on the day of the event. Get yours today at Grand Rapids Riverfest.
