Smash Art of Bemidji: boxing, painting, stress relief, and tapping into self

combining creativity and physicality to smash thru limitations

I don't want to to be spiritually bypassing the heavy stuff. That's not at all what I mean. What I mean is you face it, trusting that there will be a light at the end of the tunnel - facing those more uncomfortable emotions and getting them out. And then that's actually how you end up feeling lighter and releasing the heavy. – Amara Bedford, Painter, MA Art Therapy

Amara Bedford is a painter with a master’s degree in art therapy . Her Smash Art programs help people lighten their stress load while creating one-of-a-kind works of art. It’s boxing, it’s art, and it’s fun. Hear all about it in this Area Voices.

Smash art is for people of all ages... the use of bright colors visually with movement and music that can demonstrate a mood to feel or to get out there. All those elements combined together feel like a way of unlocking chains in each person's life...energetic chains. If we can identify what those chains are, that gets us a step closer to breaking free. - Amara Bedford, Painter, MA Art Therapy

Smash Art is happening in Bemidji Saturday, February 5. Go to Smash Art of Bemidji on Facebook for more information.
