John Beltman and Chris Tolman from the Forest History Center join John and Heidi on the Thursday Morning Show. They talk about their recreated 1900 logging camp and a recent event held there “The Art and Science of Saw Sharpening”. Participants had a chance to visit with the camps saw filer also known as the “Camp Dentist”. John gives us some history of saw sharpening in the logging camps, the methods and the tools used. Chris talks about the Forest History Centers connection to the Minnesota Historical Society. She tells us about upcoming events including their kayak program paddling on the Mississippi River.
