Skunks, Porcupines, Woodpeckers, Chipmunks, and Trumpeter Swans: Signs of Spring

Steve Patterson

We spoke Tuesday morning with DNR Nongame Wildlifebiologists Christine Herwig and Gaea Crozier.  Our interview was in spired by pictures like those posted here from Steve Patterson of Bemidji and Debbie Center of Nevis on the KAXE KBXE Season Watch page on Facebook.  We also heard from listeners about Trumpeter Swans and porcupines, and read Benjamin Andrew Pope's report of a strong smell of a skunk last Sunday morning.

As winter gradually loosens its grip, the signs of Spring will start coming fast.  FollowJohn Latimer, students from area schools, and our listener and Facebook contributors as they track the long awaited arrival of new life.  Better yet, add your observations, photos and join the discussions!  You can support the work of the Nongame Wildlife Program with a direct contribution or donate on your state income tax return.
