Women's Marches took place across the world Saturday. Australia, Qatar, France, Calgary, and Guatemala are just a few places around the globe that people marched. Across the United States, people marched. in Minnesota, people marched in solidarity in communities across the state including Bemidji, Mankato, Duluth and Longville. A bus load of women and girls left Bemidji at 5:00 Saturday morning and headed south to March in St. Paul Women's March. In this Area Voices segment, find out why they went and how it turned out.
Annie Humphrey has created a giant puppet she calls Daughter Water. She'll be walking Daughter Water between Grand Rapids and Bemidji beginning June 8. Earlier today Scott Hall reported on an informational meeting held by Enbridge Energy regarding the Line 3 pipeline.
The Canadian oil pipeline company, Enbridge Energy, wants to build another pipeline across northern MN.The company currently operates six lines that carry oil from Clearbrook - along a route that roughly follows highway 2. The lines deliver oil to refineries in Superior, Wisconsin and beyond.
KAXE-KBXE volunteer David Harrington spoke with retired conservation officer Jeff Birchem and his 13 year old daughter Johanna during the Beltrami Island Christmas Bird Count in December. They discussed the importance of using copper bullets rather than lead bullets while hunting. Johanna hunts with copper bullets and nabbed two bucks this fall using them.
