Phenology Talkbacks: 8 25 20

Katie Carter
Webster Lake, Chippewa National Forest

Phenology Talkbacks happen every Tuesday morning around 6:50am.  Our resident phenologist gathers the emails and phone messages he's received from listeners throughout the week and shares them with the radio audience.  This week we heard from the Newstok kids, Russell, Pat, Scot, Lynn and Rory.  Nighthawks, hummingbirds, warblers, a wasp and a perplexing bird call are just some of the observations included in this rich report.

We’d love to hear what you are noticing and have questions about!  Send an email, send a voice memo via email, or leave a voicemail on our talkback line at 218-999-9876.

If you are a teacher interested in incorporating the Phenology Curriculum into your classroom, connect with John Latimer!

As a mail carrier in rural Grand Rapids, Minn., for 35 years, John Latimer put his own stamp on a career that delivered more than letters. Indeed, while driving the hundred-mile round-trip daily route, he passed the time by observing and recording seasonal changes in nature, learning everything he could about the area’s weather, plants and animals, and becoming the go-to guy who could answer customers’ questions about what they were seeing in the environment.
