Thanks to the Phenology Show, Tuesdays are naturally amazing at Northern Community Radio! Tuesday is  the day we gather reports from students and listeners around the broadcast region and find out what people have been noticing out in the natural world.  This week we heard from kids at the North Shore Community Schoolnear Duluth, Roosevelt Elementary School in Virginia and Robert J. Elkington Middle School in Grand Rapids.  We also heard from listeners including Steve Long who reported on the Great Horned Owl's eating habits and Dallas Hudson who recently saw his first Compton Tortoiseshell Butterfly of the season.

What have you noticed outside?  Send an emailor leave us a message at 218.999.9876.  We'd love to hear about it and share your insights with our listeners!

Do you love phenology and the magic of the natural world?  Get involved with the KAXE-KBXE Season Watch page on Facebook.  You'll find many cool pictures and videos and conversations about nature!

As a mail carrier in rural Grand Rapids, Minn., for 35 years, John Latimer put his own stamp on a career that delivered more than letters. Indeed, while driving the hundred-mile round-trip daily route, he passed the time by observing and recording seasonal changes in nature, learning everything he could about the area’s weather, plants and animals, and becoming the go-to guy who could answer customers’ questions about what they were seeing in the environment.
