Last Phenology Talkback and Report of 2020!

Natalie Gille via KAXE-KBXE Season Watch FB Page
Three Island Sunset 12/27

Phenology is the rhythmic biological nature of events as they relate to climate. Phenology Talkbacks are an opportunity for us to hear what you are noticing outside.   Each week, our resident phenologist John Latimer gathers the talkback comments and closely assesses the subtle changes happening outside.  On Tuesdays during the Phenology Show, we hear all about it!  This week John reports on his friend Dave's shrew invasion and his neighbors' bird sightings.  Eric from the Twin Cities calls in a catnip and kale report and John gives his full, official phenology assessment.  All that and much more... take a listen!

KAXE-KBXE Northern Community Radio is listener funded.  If you appreciate that programming like this exists in the world, consider making a year-end contribution to the station to ensure we can continue this service for years to come!

Check out our Season Watch page on Facebookfor more pics, videos and conversation about what's happening outside!

As a mail carrier in rural Grand Rapids, Minn., for 35 years, John Latimer put his own stamp on a career that delivered more than letters. Indeed, while driving the hundred-mile round-trip daily route, he passed the time by observing and recording seasonal changes in nature, learning everything he could about the area’s weather, plants and animals, and becoming the go-to guy who could answer customers’ questions about what they were seeing in the environment.
