HRDC: Helping Communities Succeed

"There's 29 best practices. They fall under five categories... building and lighting, land use, things of that nature...it keeps cities accountable...it's just a good program that doesn't cost anything to join" - Joel Anastasio on Green Step Cities

The Headwaters Regional Development Commission(HRDC) serves Beltrami, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen and Clearwater counties in northern Minnesota. From homebuyer education and and rehabilitation loans for individuals to planning toward active living initiatives in communities and supporting cities of all sizes with economic and environmental planning, the mission of the HRDC is to help communities succeed.

Joel Anastasio is the Environmental and Development Specialist  and the Northwest Regional Clean Energy Resource Team (CERT) Coordinator for HRDC.  He stopped by the morning show to discuss how the HRDC serves the region and the work he's involved in that helps to ensure resilient communities.

The HRDC connects people and cities with the resources they need to be successful in several ways.  Joel discussed projects, initiatives and partnerships  across northern Minnesota making a positive impact on the environment and the economy.

Connect with the HRDC for assistance, advice and idea sharing!
