On The House: Jesse Davis and Ben Edwards on New Home Construction

On our latest On the House conversation Ben Edwards from Edwards LaPlant Construction joins our host Jesse Davis.  They discuss the changes that have been happening in the past year regarding home building in the area. They talk about the increase in more people thinking of building and the dynamics of why building is taking so much more time and expense.  Some causes for the increase in building are baby boomers building that retirement home and people relocating to the area because of the pandemic.  The high expense is not only the cost of lumber doubling, but other materials such as windows, flooring and appliances where productions costs have increased due to the pandemic.  Another reason for cost increase is there are less tradespeople in the building industry and more demand for their services.  Ben reminds us to remember quality over quantity and to do things smart.
