Dusty Heart

Our CenterStage Concert series, which started this year along with The Reif Center (in Grand Rapids), is almost wrapping up! April and May are the last two shows of the year, and both are worth your time on the town. Promise.

I heard a comedian being interviewed on National Public Radio the other day, talking about performing in Europe as opposed to performing in the States. One of the statements she made (I'll loosely interpret here) was that she'll hear from her 'biggest fan' in Cleveland, saying they'd love to see her live while she's in town, but the newest Game of Thrones is on. While in Europe, people don't even know her and they come out on the town to check it out. So what I'm saying is, don't sit at home to watch TV on 4/20. Come out and see some music!

I digress. This month, our concert is with Americana duo, Dusty Heart, join us for a night of great folk, harmonies, fiddle, guitar and banjo. Minnesota songwriters, Barbara Jean (from Grand Marais), and Molly Dean (Minneapolis) got their start as Dusty Heart after realizing how great their voices and sounds blended together. They've gone on to make their name known throughout the Minnesota music circle and beyond, performing with Frankie Lee, Chastity Brown, The Staves and touring with Jeffrey Foucault.

Get your tickets for the show on Thursday, April 20th at 7:30pm in the 200-seat Mary Ives Studio Theater at The Reif Center. Tickets available here

Coming up in May, the final concert for the year with homeboy Actual Wolf!

The music director at KAXE since 2014, Kari (pronounced Car-ee) Hedlund reviews music on the daily. She also hosts New Music every Wednesday (2 and 10 p.m.) and Sunday (noon), along with the KAXE Morning Show on Thursdays.
