Artist Interview: Debbie Center

“You live your passion and stuff happens... things that come as naturally as breathing, I just, I have to do them.” – Debbie Center

Lake life inspires Debbie Center’s artistic life.  She loves all that the natural world of northern Minnesota has to offer and relishes in exploring the outdoors – particularly the beauty out the back door of her Nevis, MN home.  A musician and photographer, Debbie incorporates the woods and waters into her artistic endeavors, capturing lake life in images and film while meshing bird calls and natural harmonies into her music.

A passionate composer, her many original piano compositions are available assheet music and more comprehensive piano books on her website.  She has also written several books of music for an instrument called a zither.  Audio recordings of many of Debbie’s compositions are available at her World of Harmony website.  Her nature photography is available at Beagle Books in Park Rapids, MN and you can often check it out on the KAXE-KBXE Season Watch Facebookpage.

In this segment of Area Voices, Debbie discusses how her unique family history as the daughter of a child prodigy violinist impacted her,  her own artistic path, and how lake living in northern Minnesota has ignited her creative fire.

“….  I’ve always got a camera in my hands or I’m always plinking around on the piano…when you’re following your passion, that’s when things start happening for you, I think.” – Debbie Center
