African Menagerie: Artist Brian Jarvi to Unveil New Work

This Saturday evening, Grand Rapids-based and world-renowned artist Brian Jarviwill unveil his latest work, a 32 foot long arc that includes more than 200 African animal species and a single man.  The public is invited to attend the event that begins at 6pm with hors d'voeures followed by a presentation, a film and ultimately the unveiling of the masterpiece.   The Reif Center marks the first stop for the massive installation that will continue on tour across the country.  We spoke with Brian about his craft, the African Menagerie, and his journey as an artist.

Katie Carter started at Northern Community Radio in 2008 as Managing Editor of the station's grant-funded, online news experiment Northern Community Internet. She returned for a second stint in 2016-23. She produced Area Voices showcasing the arts, culture, and history stories of northern Minnesota.
