On the Friday Morning Show Heidi Holtan talks with Marshall Helmberger editor and publisher of the Timberjay Newspaper covering northeastern Minnesota. Marshall shares with us how Ely is looking for answers to the workforce shortage in their city and the DNR has set goals to increase the deer population in the area. Marshall tells us that visitors to the Superior National Forest including the BWCA must be prepared to protect food packs from hungry bears. In 2018 Heidi received the “Building Bridges in Media” award from the Islamic Resource Group for her work on KAXE/KBXE hosting conversations about anti-Muslim movements in rural Minnesota. During the pandemic, Heidi hosted 14 months of a weekly statewide conversation on COVID-19 for the AMPERS network.
