John Latimer helped with the tracking of loon trl_14.  There's a cool interactive map you can watch where this guy has been in the last few years.

Don't forget you can follow us on Twitter at #kaxemorning and #phenology.

And send us what you are seeing!  As the kids from Two Harbors would say "keep observing"!

KAXE/KBXE is all over the place when it comes to social media.  Are you on facebook?  Join our community for photos and things going on around KAXE/KBXE.  Like Phenology?  Join our season watch page.  If you are a reader or looking to connect with other readers, join What We're Reading

KAXE/KBXE has a community on Facebook called What We're Reading.  You can find out information about the KAXE bookclub, ask a question or post what you are reading.  Tammy Bobrowsky produces the Monday morning segment that gives us ideas on what to read.  Today one of the books she mentions is from the U of MN Press, "The War Came Home With Him".

Headwaters School of Music and the Arts(HSMA)has long been an arts gathering place in Bemidji, MN.  With the release of Christmas in Bemidji Volume 2,  HSMA kicks off its annual fund drive to support student scholarships.  On the Friday morning show we talked with Executive Director Tricia Andrews about the cd, its release party, and what goes on at the school.

November is National Adoption month - celebrated by national, state and local agencies as well as foster care and adoptive family groups.  The goal is to raise awareness of the need for permanency for the children and youth in our country in foster care and waiting for families.

Go to MN Adopt for information   or North Homes.

Mikki Anderson is the mother of 7 and joined us to talk about how adoption works.

What's For Breakfast? is a favorite feature of the Friday Morning Show.  This morning Heidi and John spoke with 12 year old Evelyn from Bemidji.  Evelyn shared a story of lending a helping hand after she saw an actual hand sticking out from behind a car yesterday.  Her tale is a reminder to all of us to stop and help when we see others in trouble.  Thanks Evelyn for sharing your story and your morning with us!

Tuesday mornings are special around here. We hear phenology from students and listeners from all across northern MN.  We also get the special treat of the weekly phenology report from our favorite nature reporter John Latimer.  For 33 years John Latimer has been documenting the subtle and not so subtle changes in the environment on The Phenology Show.

Winter Storm Warning in effect across the entire region - expected to last until 6pm this evening in NW MN - until midgnight in Itasca/Cass/Crow Wing counties and until 6am in NE MN - St. Louis Counties.

Heavy snow falling up 1 inch per hour - snow and ice covered roads and visibility less than a quarter mile.  Exercise caution if you must travel - and definitely allow extra time if you MUST travel.

Temps in the low to mid 30s and blowing snow up to 45 mph possible.

Have a snow day!  Be careful out there!
