The Third Coast Chamber Collective (TCCC) Festival kicks off on August 12th with a performance in Deer River at the Loggy Dome. According to Sas, the performance will push against the conventions of traditional chamber music to create a different kind of chamber music event. "The opening performance is really a treat. That's going to happen in a very specific venue, in the woods, in a small cabin-like venue. And we're going to perform music that is inspired by Indian classical music."
"And we will also have no standard elements of the performance. No applause, no introduction of the pieces, people will be able to sit among the musicians so no concert halls, no rows no chairs. And we really want to see how people are going to react. And based on what we saw last year, this is really going to be something."
This type of innovation is central to the mission of the TCCC. Sas went on to say that "We don't want to perform in the hall. We want to perform in a place where people feel comfortable."
Along with the festival this summer, the TCCC is presenting opportunities for students and adult community members to take part in learning and performing chamber music. Click here for the full information about these youth and adult chamber camps.
