When you tune into KAXE/KBXE you hear about local arts in the communities of northern MN.

Often that can be converations about local theatre productions.  Whether it’s the Northern Lights opera company in Park Rapids, the Grand Rapids Players, Bemidji Community Theater, Stage North and Central Lakes College Theater in Brainerd, Mesabi Musical Theater, Northern Lights Musical Theater, Ely Community Theater, Edge Center for the Arts in Bigfork theater productions, Greater Lakes Area Performing Arts in Pequot Lakes as well as countless others we have learned over the years that people are PASSIONATE about being involved in their local theater productions.

Stacy Wolf is one of America’s foremost scholars on musical theater.  She is a professor in the Program in Theater in the Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University.  She has a new book out called “Beyond Broadway – The Pleasure and Promise of Musical Theater Across America”

For more than two decades, Heidi Holtan has helped shape the sound of KAXE. Since joining the station in 2002 as a volunteer music programmer, she has worn many hats including the weekly book program, Realgoodwords, hosting the Morning Show, creation and host of the weekly call-in program Between You and Me, serving as Outreach Producer.
