She is a Blandin Foundation trustee, a commissioner on the Grand Rapids Arts and Culture Commission and the Gallery Director at MacRostie Art Center. She’s joined us to tell us about events for Indigenous Peoples' Day AND the Land Acknowledgement at the MacRostie Art Center.
The MacRostie Art Center invites you to a community celebration and panel discussion on Indigenous Peoples' Day, Monday, October 14th, 2019, from 7pm to 8pm.
The panel will feature local Indigenous scholars and artists who will discuss the significance of art as a method of preserving and vitalizing culture. The conversation will take place in our MacRostie Gallery, which will also be hosting the exhibit Beyond Borders: Indigenous Invitational.
Mayor Dale Adam's will be giving a live proclamation at 7pm, acknowledging Grand Rapids' recognition of Indigenous Peoples' Day as an official holiday since 2015.
This event is free and open to the public. Light snacks will be served. Refreshments will be available thanks to the Friends of the Grand Rapids Area Library. We would also like to thank our sponsors The Grand Rapids Human Rights Commission, City of Grand Rapids MN, Blandin Foundation, and the Circle of Healing.
