Phenology Report: 9/29/20

Katie Carter

Phenology is the rhythmic biological nature of events as they relate to climate.  Each week, resident phenologist John Latimer closely assesses the subtle changes happening outside and gives a full, official phenology report.  This week, John takes a deep dive into  leaf peak, leaf drop, grouse, eagles and much more.   Listen to find out how this year compares to John's 30+ years of data collection!

Let us know what you are noticing outside by leaving a voicemail at 218-999-9876 or send us an email.  We would love to hear from you!

As a mail carrier in rural Grand Rapids, Minn., for 35 years, John Latimer put his own stamp on a career that delivered more than letters. Indeed, while driving the hundred-mile round-trip daily route, he passed the time by observing and recording seasonal changes in nature, learning everything he could about the area’s weather, plants and animals, and becoming the go-to guy who could answer customers’ questions about what they were seeing in the environment.
