CHISHOLM — The Minnesota Department of Transportation installed a four-way stop demonstration project in Chisholm as of Monday, Aug. 26.
The project is at the intersection of Highway 73 and Third Avenue Northwest in the city. It will remain in place for at least 30 days to study traffic and pedestrian flow.
The existing signal lights will flash red and temporary stop signs have been installed. Temporary curb bump-outs were also installed to create a shorter distance for pedestrians to cross.
The project comes after a June public meeting in the city about the construction project planned for 2027. MnDOT said it is studying all possibilities at the intersection.
The timing of this particular study is intended to include Labor Day and the beginning of the school year, to see how the intersection can accommodate larger traffic volumes.
