Host and fellow northlands explorer, Leah Lemm, returns with another installment of Northern Voices. For this chapter, Leah shares her conversation with artist Kent Estey at his place in Naytahwaush, Minnesota.

Here’s is Leah’s introduction to Episode 35 of Northern Voices.

“Today, I’m chatting with someone who is working on his artwork now in retirement. Kent Estey is from the White Earth Nation, he’s a retired educator who wore many hats and inspired students in his community. He’s exploring artwork that examines the education system and its complexities when serving students. And he continues with his paintings, bringing in landscape and elemental qualities from his culture and environment. I joined Kent out in Naytahwaush where he lives and works.”

Lemm's Northern Voices: Celebrating Ties to Minnesota's Northland shares sustainable, traditional, indigenous, and ancestral practices of Northern Minnesotans. Through these conversations, Northern Voices celebrates the richness of individual, organizational, and communal ways of life within the region.
