In this edition of All Songs Considered, we look at what's hot in the clubs of London and ask why electronica and club music have had trouble taking hold in the U.S., even as they become more mainstream in the U.K.

The two most influential DJs from BBC Radio 1 join host Bob Boilen for the discussion, and to share some of their favorite artists. Pete Tong and Gilles Peterson talk about the early influence American dance music had on Europe, especially its working class. We also examine the explosion of American dance music in the past few years.

For more music from the British and American electronic and club scene, check out this piece from NPR Music's Sami Yenigun.
