Simone White's grandma was a showgirl, her aunt was a songwriter in the '50s, her mother was a belly dancer, and her dad was an artist, so she's inherited good genes. The singer-songwriter was born in Hawaii and moved around a lot at an early age; as a child, she was highly creative, dabbling in everything from acting to photography before learning how to play the guitar in Seattle.
White's debut album, Sincere Recording Co. Presents Simone White, drew favorable comparisons to early Suzanne Vega and featured the popular track "Roses Are Not Red." The album distinctly combines blues and folk music, creating a calm atmosphere with honest, heartfelt lyrics. White's sophomore album, I Am the Man, was recorded with Lambchop's Mark Nevers at his home studio in Nashville.
