KAXE Volunteers - Mark
Olson
|
|
|
|
Mark Olson has been an
on-air volunteer for KAXE since December
2003. he is a Packsacker-Ranger
wanna-be that migrated from the migraine
MPLS/St. Paul jungle back in 2003.
|
| |
| While he and his wife
Sharon built their home on a little lake
near Hibbing, every day they listened to
KAXE from the time they got up and until
they went to bed. Needless to say,
they liked the station because it was
nothing like they had ever heard anywhere
else (it also had the music they liked). |
| |
| Towards the end of their
house building expedition, they heard that
KAXE was looking for volunteers to help the
station operate and though this might be a
good opportunity to begin to meet people in
the area. Unfortunately, when they got
to the volunteer training, they realized
that the training was not for off-air but
ON-AIR volunteering. After their panic
wore off and the sweat dried off, the KAXE
staff convinced them to give it a try and as
they sat "the rest was history." |
| |
| Because of this
occupation, Mark only hosts on-air porgrams
every 2 to 3 months. he doesn't work
locally, but he travels all over the world
as a consultant helping companies with
equipment reliavility problems. Where
ever Mark travels, he always searches for
local music indigenous to the area and for
other stations like KAXE. So far, he's
found lots of great music that he plays on
KAXE but he's never found another sstation
like KAXE. KAXE is truly unique! |
