People have become more and more interested
in where their food comes from. For many
years, KAXE's General manager has not only
been paying attention to what she eats and
where it comes from she's been having
conversations with the people who produce
it. For several years, Jane
Grimsbo-Jewett from the University of
Minnesota,
Minnesota Institute
for Sustainable Agriculture (MISA) and owner
of Willow Sedge Farm in Palisade has helped
KAXE produce the local food program. |
| |
| Some producers allow community members to
invest in their farms through Community
Supported Agriculture (CSAs). In payment for
this investment they receive shares of the
food that the farm produces. |
| |
| Other people are involved in local farm
markets or help organize sustainable
agriculture events and training sessions.
They work in schools and food co-ops. Some
are involved in food sovereignty groups.
Others are trying to find ways to process
local food so people can use it more easily. |
| |
| They have wonderful stories to tell, about
the land, their families, animals and
plants. Many are highly inventive and
entrepreneurial. All of them work very hard. |
